QUIZ NIGHT
The social committee will be hosting another HCC quiz night in the lounge bar. We hope to see a big turnout like last year, so please share this information and bring as many people down as you can! We are very excited to announce two new signings to the First XI squad for our return to HCPCL Division 1. Max Harsham is a young opening batsman who joins us from Bishopston CC in Bristol. He is currently playing out in South Africa gaining valuable experience. Sami Sajid may be more familiar, having joined us from nearby Chesham CC. Sami is a fiery opening quick bowler who will add pace to our attack, and having taken 28 league wickets in Div 2 last year, will be a consistent threat to batsmen. We have no doubt they will settle in well and make excellent additions to the squad! Max batting on the left and Sami bowling on the right.
We are incredibly proud to share that our very own Tom McLeod was selected for the Hawke’s Bay representative side to face Taranaki in the Furlong Cup last weekend.
Tom is currently playing for Cornwall cricket club in New Zealand and is the leading HBCA premier competition run scorer so far this season, which has seen him deservedly be selected for the representative side this weekend. It is the equivalent of England’s National Counties Cricket Association, just a step below the professional game. The game took place at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world! Tom followed up last weekend's success with a well-made 75* yesterday (including 3 sixes!) to continue his good form. The 1st XI will play the winners of either Hornsey or Winchmore Hill in the 2nd round of the Bertie Joel cup competition.
Last year the 1st XI beat Hornsey in the 1st round and Ickenham in the 2nd round before losing away to Roffey. The game will take place on the 11th of June at Harefield. |
