Harefield CC is deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our former 1stXI Captain Simon Prodger.
“Prodge” was an elegant left-hand batsman and an orthodox slow left-arm bowler. He played 121 1stXI League matches for Harefield between 1994 and 2005. (8th on the all-time 1stXI League appearance list) Simon captained our 1stXI from 1996 to 1999 and recently was a regular visitor to the Club on match days. Simon has helped the development of many of our current 1st XI by giving them experience of playing in the Club Cricket Conference Representative XIs. Simons loss will be felt throughout the wider cricketing communities where he previously played at Harlow, Hoddesdon, and Watford Town. Cricket has always been Simon`s passion and since finishing his playing days he has focussed on many cricket administration activities. Latterly Simon has been Chairman of Watford Town and had become managing director of the National Cricket Conference and Club Cricket Conference, which provide great support for recreational cricket. Simon always championed that cause tirelessly. In addition, he was a driving force behind the East Africa Character Development Trust, a charity bringing hope and opportunity through cricket to thousands of young, disadvantaged Kenyans from slum communities in Nairobi. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Lyn and his family. |
