Will Shepherd (Sheppy) is one of several young batsmen at the club. Will has come right through the colts section at Harefield and made his 1st XI debut in 2018. He has been a consistent performer with both bat and bowl throughout the junior age groups and had a breakout year last year opening for the 2s scoring 223 runs at an average of nearly 45, as well as chipping in with 7 wickets with his more than useful right arm seamers. Sheppy also won the 2nd XI batting & all rounder award in 2017. We look forward to seeing Sheppy continue to develop as an all-round cricketer and push for 1st XI selection in this coming season.
Sheppy is kindly sponsored this year by Michael and Heather Lench. Long time members of the club, Michael says “We have had an association with the club for over 20 years now. Our son was fortunate, aged 7, to start learning his cricket at Harefield under Ted Petley and Kevin Shepherd and eventually played for the senior teams. The club has gone from strength to strength but never changed. It’s the friendliest place in the world, and we are privileged to be involved.” A huge thank you to Mike and Heather for their support. Players are available to sponsor for £75. Week sponsorship is available for £100. Both player and week sponsorships are available for £150. Please email [email protected] or ring Stephen Croft 07555371910 for more details.

Tom McLeod (Tmac) is our next sponsored player for the season. Tmac is one of our top-order batsmen in the 1st XI. Tmac like several of our senior players came through the colts section representing Middlesex age group sides before going on to make his Hares 1st team debut in 2017. Tmac had his best year for the 1st XI last year scoring 245 runs at an average of nearly 50 and registering his maiden fifties for the side. We look forward to seeing Tmac build on his performances of last year in this coming season.
Richard and Wendy McLeod have both been involved with the club for many years. Richard has scored 41 club hundreds, and played for the First XI for many seasons, after originally coming over as an overseas player from New Zealand. Macca regularly topped club and league averages during his tenure as a top-order batsman and was made a life member in 2017. Wendy has been a lifelong member of HCC, has been involved in working behind the bar, the teas, and also played for the Ladies’ team. Wendy’s father Gerald Harman was club treasurer for many years and has a long-term family connection to the club. DEADLINE IS 10PM FRIDAY 7TH MAY This year sees the return of the HCC fantasy league. Having joined the club at 17 years old Doug has gone on to be a huge part in why the club has stayed in the Home Counties Premier League for the last 11 seasons captaining the 1st XI in the last 5 of them. In this time Doug has taken 258 wickets which leaves him 13th on the overall wicket taking list for the Home Counties Premier League. Furthermore, he went on to play Gloucestershire academy as well as playing regularly for Buckinghamshire. In his new role as director of cricket he will oversee the overall on-field cricket matters for the whole club and if he does half a good job as he did as captain, we look forward to seeing the results.
