Match Abandoned - 6 points each Slough 3s v Harefield 2s Harefield 2s 175/5 (40 overs) O. Richards 59 Slough 3s 86 all out (28.5 overs) S. Morris 3/13 (including a hat-trick) S. Beacham 3/15 Harefield 2s won by 89 runs Harefield 3s v Farnham Royal 2s Match Abandoned - 7 points each Next weekend's fixtures: 1st XI v Chesham (A) 2nd XI v Burnham 2s (H) 3rd XI v Stoke Green 3s (A) Another lost toss resulted in the Hares batting first. Exactly as the Harefield Skipper had planned.
An inspired decision by esteemed captain Brett saw Saif and new recruit Callum opening the batting. A 100 partnership soon ensued between that set the 3XI for a relatively high score. Syed then chipped in with 9 from 5 balls before middling one into the hands of Hillingdon Manor’s fielders in probably one of the best grabs you will see at this level. This brought Aysin & JoJo to the crease who put on a solid partnership scoring 24 & 26 respectively. Then came Michael Norris. Simon Webb’s bowling clearly dumbfounded Pigeon, Harefield’s number 6 as he played all round a straight delivery which resulted in cleaning up his stumps. In came Brett Moore. A plan of not giving away his wicket away proved an intelligent decision from the 22-year-old captain as it allowed Prab to whack 21 from 8 balls as Moore pushed the singles. Although despite Moore and Prabs’ partnership nothing from today’s game can top arguably the greatest dismissal ever seen on Coney Green. Taufeeq Sangay. Need I say more? A change of bowling saw Hillingdon’s very own ‘Jimmy’ coming proverbially steaming in from the football pitch end, bowling left arm round. The fondly named ‘Toff’ took a wild swipe at an up and down delivery as he stepped a yard out-side of his crease. Hillingdon’s keeper, trickled the ball towards the stumps as Toff looked for an impossible single from Skipper Moore. After realising the impending doom, Toff attempted to return to his crease but instead dropped his bat, fell over his feet and threw his hands behind the crease in a desperate attempt to keep his wicket. All of this 30 seconds after the bails had been removed. After that debacle the 3’s finished on 215 for 8, leaving Hillingdon requiring 216 to win the game. The less said about Hillingdon’s innings the better I think. The famed Pigeons - Mikey Norris took an impressive 3 for, but after the worst over in the history of cricket by skipper Brett Moore and 4 dropped catches off a chap who went on to score 120 with very little help from his team mates the Hares fell to a 6 wicket defeat. Positives to take. Match Report written by Brett Moore. Harefield 1st XI v Aston Rowant 1st XI 12:30pm start
The 1st XI will play current HCPL division 1 side Aston Rowant for the first time in league cricket since 2017 (we have met since in the HCPL 20/20 1st round last summer, a game in which Aston Rowant won by 7 wickets). In 3 out of the previous 4 league encounters the matches have been abandoned, with the 1s winning the other game. The 1s go into this game without skipper D. King as he is out with an injury, so in comes L. Tyrrell to make his first appearance of the season and will be a welcome addition to the middle order and pace bowling department. The captaincy will be shared between W. Hatton and D. Ogden. Aston Rowant have started this campaign very well with 2 wins, a loss and a wash out which places them 4th in the table. Last weekend the smashed a very impressive 283/3 in their 40 overs in a 165-run win over Oxford. The 1s will once again have to be at their best to compete with one of the strongest batting line ups in the league. Slough 3rd XI v Harefield 2nd XI 12:30pm start Harefield 2s meet Slough 3s for the first time in league cricket. Slough 3s have started this season with mixed fortunes, having won 1 and lost 2. With R. Petley back available TJ Hirani drops back down to the 3s, apart from that the 2s stay the same. The 2s are currently joint top and will look to maintain their unbeaten season. Harefield 3rd XI v Farnham Royal 2nd XI 12:30pm start The 3s play Farnham Royal 2s this weekend looking to get their first win of the season. Having struggled with the bat in the first 3 few games, the 3s had a much-improved performance with the bat last week managing to bat all their overs. The 3s bowling department will be strengthened by the return of TJ Hirani from the 2s and the welcome return from injury of J. Senatore who will make his senior debut for the club (having previously played in our under 19 side). The 3s will be led by P. Collett as B. Moore is unavailable due to work commitments. Doug King’s men arrived at Henley CC on Saturday morning, greeted by a flat wicket and 30+ degree heat. King lost the toss and Harefield were put into bat. The boys started well, with Dan Ogden and Will Hatton reaching 50 for no loss. Will was then caught by a good catch from the mid on fielder for 27, his highest score of the season so far, to reduce Hares to 57-1. This brought both Ogden brothers together at the crease, who proceeded to put over 100 on for the second wicket. Both reached their half centuries, continuing their strong form so far this season. Matt was then dismissed for 51 (56) after scooping the ball to deep fine leg’s hands. Jordan McLeod was promoted up the order to 4 in a pinch-hitting role, which unfortunately for Harefield did not come off. Himself and Dan were dismissed in quick succession and the Hares were reduced to 167-4 after just over 30 overs. Dan batted extremely well for 74 (89) before being run out. Harefield struggled to get some good death bowling away and eventually ended up with 199-7 from their 40 overs, much thanks to Stalder, T McLeod, King, Croft and Marshall all chipping in.
Henley started steadily in their pursuit of 200, before losing their first wicket at the score of 11, Jordan McLeod rushing opening batsman Rowe to chop onto his stumps from a back of a length delivery. Harefield did well throughout the next 10 overs or so to limit the damage done by Middlesex CCC professional Jack Davies, who did not think twice before depositing bad balls to the boundary. Tom Crick then made the crucial breakthrough when he cleaned Davies up for 44, and subsequently having Morris caught at backward point by Tom McLeod and Roberts being caught at square leg by Captain King. An excellent spell of pace bowling that reduced Henley from 74-1 to 87-4. Henley then put on another 31 for their next wicket before the introduction of Marshall brought 2 quick wickets. First, he clean bowled Hampshire contracted professional Scriven, and then ex-England u19 Woods. At 126-6 the Hares were very much in the hunt for a historic victory. Unfortunately for the Hares, Henley number 8 Rishton played an excellent counter attacking innings as he scored a quick 33 (24) that brought the vastly experienced Henley side within touching distance. However, leg-spinner Croft ensured that the game would enter the final stages with spectators biting their nails. Croft took the wickets of Rishton, Nugent and Jordan in a spell of 8 overs 3-32. Unfortunately, the Harefield bowlers could not dismiss the dangerman Williams who batted throughout the carnage at the other end for 45* which ultimately won Henley the game by 1 wicket. It was a defeat that was tough to take for the young Harefield side, who can certainly hold their heads high after taking the HCPL champions closer than the majority of the sides in the league have done over the past 3 seasons. Match report written by Tom Marshall. Scorecard link: https://harefield.play-cricket.com/website/results/4457516 1st XI v Henley 1st XI 199/7 (40 overs) D. Ogden 74, M. Ogden 51 Henley 202/9 (34 overs) S. Croft 3/32, T. Crick 3/46 Henley won by 1 wicket With the Sun beaming down and the humidity high, a full day of cricket was guaranteed. Harefield 2nd XI showed up brimming with confidence.
As a result of the toss, Harefield were bowling first. The opening bowlers started almost identically to last week with putting pressure on the opening batters with some accurate bowling, with N. Hirani picking up two wickets early doors to expose their middle order early into the game. The pressure on Wycombe 3’s didn't stop during the middle overs with the introduction of Shepherd, Morris, and Beacham. The bowlers continued to bowl accurately which gave little to the batters on a day when conditions favoured the bating side. Wycombe 3’s ended their innings 172 for 10 off 40 overs, which was arguably 60 runs under par. Shepherd and Lippiatt began the batting charge once again for the 2s. Unfortunately for the Hares Lippiatt was bowled for 11, after starting well. This brought skipper Richards to the crease, whilst Shepherd was building from the other end. Richards was caught on 17, just as he was starting to look in his typical destructive rhythm. This brough N. Hirani out to bat. This partnership started well with both batsmen punishing the bad deliveries on top of stealing quick singles. Hirani and Shepherd saw out the game gracefully putting on a partnership of 117 to win by 8 wickets leaving 8 overs to spare. Shepherd finished with a magnificent 91 accompanied by Hirani who finished on 34 unbeaten. The second team are yet to lose 10 wickets accumulatively this season scoring 600 runs. This leaves Harefield with a lot of confidence going into the remaining games. Harefield 1st XI duo, Daniel Ogden and Stephen Croft both put in solid performances in a losing cause.
Stephen in the first innings bowled 9 overs for 37 in the middle period to restrict Oxfordshire to 213. In reply, Daniel with the bat scored 35 in a 70-run fifth wicket partnership with Tring Park batsmen Charlie Macdonell before being dismissed as a result of an excellent catch. The Buckinghamshire side unfortunately came up 13 runs short, having needed only 28 runs to win with 5 wickets left at one stage. Scorelink: https://bucksccc.play-cricket.com/website/results/4495173 Excellent win today for the under 15s. It took a while for us to wake up, having lost Vasilli after just the second ball of the match, and fielding with 10 men. However, some excellent bowling from Simran, who took 3 wickets, Krish with 2 and Peter with 1 (and 2 run outs) we restricted Northwood to 107/8 in 20 overs.
In reply Shane and Toby kept the score going and with some hefty blows from Rishi (which included hitting four 4s) we finally got the winning runs in the 18th over. Well done everyone who played. Match Report done by James Ayling. Northwood 107/8 (20 overs) Simran 3 wickets Under 15s 108/5 (18.4 overs) Under 15s won by 5 wickets |
